Student Council 2020 - 2021
A Student Council is a representative structure for students, through which they can become involved in the affairs of the school, working in partnership with school management, staff and parents for the benefit of the school and the students. A key part of a democratic school community is its Student Council.
The role of our Student Council in St. Cremin's N.S. is to represent the views of all pupils and improve our life in school. Involvement in the Student Council gives students an opportunity to develop leadership by organising and carrying out school activities and initiatives through a respectful partnership between students, parents and school staff. In addition to planning events that contribute to school spirit and community welfare, the student council is the voice of the student body.
Each year, students from 6th Class are invited to nominate themselves for a place on the Student Council. Prior to the election nominees are invited to canvass and engage in debates with other candidates. Candidates are then elected by their peers in 5th & 6th Class through a voting process. The elected students are required to be active participants in the Student Council, to attend meetings regularly, participate in activities and serve as role models for other students.
