Construction at the school has been progressing well over the past week. It is hoped that a considerable amount of the heavy ground work will have taken place before the children return to school on Monday. Barriers are now in place around the perimeter of the work area and a walkway for pedestrians will be in place on Monday morning. Parents dropping to school can still pull up outside the school as normal, and children are asked to walk into the school along the pedestrian walkway. If you need to call into the school or to park your car for a longer time, a car park area will be provided on the old basketball court. The gateway on the village side of the school has been widened to provide better access. Staff cars will be parked in a sectioned off area inside the school grounds. Children travelling to and from school by bus will continue to be dropped at, and collected from, the front of the school. A turning area will be provided for the buses. All children coming into or leaving the school must use the walkway provided at all times. Please obey the instructions of the building contractors. While it might take a couple of days for people to get used to the new arrangements, please be patient and conscious of children and adults coming into and leaving the school grounds.

Day Two
Work continued on the school’s new traffic management system today. School gates were removed. Trees, plants, flag poles and the notice board from the front of the school were lifted and carefully stored. The front of the school grounds were excavated to allow for the foundations of the new car parks and roadways to be laid. More news over the coming days.
Construction Work Commences
The long awaited construction work to create a new car park and traffic management system began at St. Cremin’s N.S. this week. Derek McDonnell Ltd. has been appointed by the Board of Management to carry out the substantial work to create a new one-way traffic system, with parking for cars and school buses, together with a new staff car park. It is expected that the work will take place over the next eight weeks. Minimal disruption to normal school activities is expected, but arrangements for parents dropping and collecting children to and from school will be posted over the coming days. The work, when completed, will greatly improve safety in front of the school.
